Brain Gym® Is HERE!

Let’s face it -- everyone can use more calm and less stress! Brain Gym ®, a collection of slow, simple movements and processes called balances, stimulates neural pathways in the brain, promotes communication between both brain hemispheres which leads to more efficient learning on both innate and academic levels. In adults, what this means is: stress reduction, increased focus and memory, improved task and communication efficiency, and heightened sense of well being. Brain Gym ® has proven effective for issues of memory, performance, comprehension, and chronic conditions such as Alzheimer's and post-stroke recovery. Because of the developmental progression of neural pathway formation in children, the impact of Brain Gym ® often goes even further, facilitating a sense of competence and confidence when things like reading and math are made to feel more comfortable. It can help with learning dysfunctions that frequently wear labels like: ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and so on. Regular Brain Gym ® sessions can lead to easier academic performance of improved quality which then can help underwrite more successful peer relationships. In short, everyone can benefit from Brain Gym ®! The next Brain Gym ® 101 class (24 hours of entry level Brain Gym ® training) is scheduled for January 13th, 14th, 15th, 2007. Natalie Shoptaw, licensed Brain Gym ® Instructor and Personal Trainer will facilitate the class. If you are interested in this class, or future Brain Gym ® 101 classes please call the Ft. Bragg Yoga Studio at 367-3741. Discounts available for early registration.

Ongoing Ayurveda For You!

We are proud to offer you keys to healthier living through monthly Ayurveda workshops and consultations at the Ft. Bragg Yoga Studio with Ayurveda Practitioner, Meera Chaturvedi of Berkely. Last month we learned self-healing techniques with Marma Point Therapy. In November we are looking forward to a dynamic Ayurvedic Cooking Class which will provide nurturing support and guidance in the kitchen for healthier (and perhaps tastier) eating. Ayurveda is an ancient Health Care System originating around 5,000 years ago in India. It was said to have been transmitted to the Rishis (the sages) by God to help the human race stay healthy. As a complete science it is immensely practical in that it addresses the whole person as an individual: mind, body, and spirit. In contrast to modern day allopathic medicine, it is all inclusive and stresses balance of all these elements as the foundation of health. According to Ayurvedic principals, vibrant well being is dependent on good refers to food, but also applies to other influences in mental and spiritual realms. Other aspects that effect our well being are: tastes, temperature, weather, lifestyle, environment, relationships, and various things that either stimulate or depress your physiology. Great attention is put on identifying the needs of your particular body type and what is necessary to bring it into harmony and balance. This approach to health care is deeply nurturing, raises awareness, and infinitely emphasizes prevention in wellness. By treating our mind, body, and spirit with consciousness, patience and love, the individual discovers a source of well being and great satisfaction.
